June 6th, 2005 - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - Andrew Tomazos (tomazos.com), announced today that he is launching a series of bi-weekly plain-text email articles for the internet community and related computing industries.

Initial Subscriber List

Among those that have signed up to be on the initial subscriber list are veterans from Apple Computer (*), Google (*), IBM (*), Microsoft (*), Sun Microsystems (*), as well as computing professionals, academics and enthusiasts from all over the world. Despite the technical knowledge of some of the audience, Andrew will present the content in a way that will be easily understood by everyone. All are welcome.

Content and Scope

"I hope to rejuvenate some old-school concepts about computers and the internet, and combine them with some fresh new ideas. Something fundamentally cool happens when a person teams up with a computer - and something fundamentally cooler happens when you connect these people/computer teams together in an effective way," said Andrew.

The scope of the free-form articles will be focused around Andrew's primary interests in online community, programming for non-programmers, artificial intelligence and life, internet history and culture, virtual human interaction, social networking sites and technology, peer-to-peer software and groupware.

Distribution and Pricing

The newsletter and articles will contain no advertising, and third parties will not be permitted to pay for attention and comments in the newsletter. The email addresses of the subscribers will be kept private, and never sold or rented. Initially, all content will be donated to the public domain, with the provision that a link back to tomazos.com is published near any full or partial reprint. Subscribers and patrons will be able to support Andrew's efforts by making contributions through Kagi's payment processing service and online store. The newsletter is "free" in the sense that payment, although welcome, is not currently required to subscribe. (Update: Membership fees of $26/year are now required as of the 2nd October, 2005)

Subscribing Procedure

Update: Please inform those that might wish to subscribe to the newsletter, to sign up at the Kagi store. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any future time by sending a message to andrew@tomazos.com requesting so.

Future

"This project is designed primarily to share some ideas and thoughts I have, but if I find sufficient resources and support on this, I can imagine taking the subscriber base into a more interactive experience: linking them with some long term ideas I have had for online community structure. For now, due to time constraints, we're starting with a simple bi-weekly plain-text email." -Andrew Tomazos
